Based in Berlin, the Leonkoro Quartet was founded in the spring of 2019. Currently they are studying with Eckart Runge and Gregor Sigl (Artemis Quartet) at the University of the Arts Berlin, and are part of the International Institute of Chamber Music of Madrid at the Reina Sofía School of Music in the class of Günter Pichler (Alban Berg Quartett). In addition, they have received tuition from teachers such as Alfred Brendel, Heime Müller, Oliver Wille, Rainer Schmidt, Luc-Marie Aguera, and Stephan Forck.
Not long after their formation, the quartet was awarded the first prize and "Adolfo Betti Award" for the best string quartet at the Virtuoso & Belcanto Festival chamber music competition. Following that, they received the "Walbusch Prize" at the 64th Jeunesses Musicales International Chamber Music Campus, which includes an invitation to perform at the Heidelberger Streichquartettfest 2021. They were part of MozartLab Würzburg 2020, where they worked with Reinhard Goebel.
In 2019, the Leonkoro Quartet has been selected to join the network of Le Dimore del Quartetto.
